Welcome to the 2018-2019 Girls Traveling Registration with Blaine Youth Basketball!
Important Note Regarding the Traveling Registration Process:
There is only ONE registration for traveling players. In previous years the traveling registration process required two registrations - a program registration and then a traveling registration after traveling try outs. At times this created confusion and resulted in a mad rush of registrations after try outs.
To simplify the process there will only be one registration.
We are also offering a payment plan for those families that wish to break this registration into 2 payments. Sports Engine will provide you this option at check-out, with 50% due at time of registration and the remaining 50% due on September 21st.
There will be a $25 late fee charged if you register AFTER September 9th.
If your player intends to play traveling this year and will be attending traveling try outs, you only need to register once using this traveling registration.
If a registered traveling player is not offered a roster spot on a traveling team after try outs, you will be refunded the $100 fundraising fee and $200 of the traveling registration fee ($300 total refund). The player will then be placed on an in-house team.
We cannot guarantee we will have an in-house team for grades 7-8. If we don't have enough players to form a combined 7th and 8th grade in-house team, you will be refunded the full $450 and players will be encouraged to consider the Andover or Coon Rapids in-house programs.
We will have one Skills Night and two Tryouts for Traveling players. These sessions are required. If your daughter is hurt or ill, please let us know ahead of the sessions so we can discuss our policy and options.
SKILLS NIGHT - GRADES 4 - 8 (IN HOUSE & TRAVELING):
We will have one Skills Night that will be open to all registered In-House and Traveling players in Grades 4 - 8. All players are encouraged to attend, and those planning to try-out for traveling are required to attend. Players will receive their practice jerseys at the Skills Night. These jerseys are also used as In-House game jerseys.
4th - 8th Grade Traveling: $350 + $100 fundraising fee
There will be a $25 late fee if you register after September 9th.
The $100 fundraising fee is per traveling family - not per player. If you have more than one player in traveling basketball, you will not pay more than $100. You will receive 20 raffle tickets that you can sell to recoup your fundraising fees in full.
If your player is new to traveling basketball this year, you will need at least one jersey and one pair of shorts. A full uniform is typically around $85. We will have uniforms to try on during the skills night and tryouts. Uniforms MUST be ordered by late September in order to get them in time for our first tournament - there will be a separate registration for traveling uniforms (available after tryouts).
Traveling uniforms for the 2018-19 season will be the same as last year so if you had a player in the traveling program last year you will not have to buy a new uniform. If your player has outgrown their uniform or needs a new jersey or pair of shorts, you will have an opportunity to order individual pieces when the traveling uniform registration is made available after tryouts.
Eligibility for a player is determined by the school they attend (or would attend if they are home schooled or attending a private school). Only players that attend school in the Blaine Area Cluster are automatically eligible to play for the Blaine Youth Basketball. It is also assumed that the player will attend Blaine High School in 9th grade. This encompasses the geographic area as determined by the School District. If you do not meet these eligibility requirements, you must receive a release from your ‘home association’ before you can play for Blaine – we will do our best to identify these situations during the initial registration.
All Blaine traveling teams will play in the MYAS State Tournament in March. Each player is required to submit proof of grade level, resident address, and date of birth/age. Your head coach, or team coordinator, will collect these required forms prior to the State Tournament.
Scholarships are available for players that receive free or reduced price meals at school. Proof of this includes completion of a scholarship form and a letter from the School District designating the player for free or reduced meals.

Traveling families are required to submit a volunteer check for $150 and have a volunteer requirement to help at our home tournament on February 16-17. We ask parents to commit 6 hours of volunteer time during the tournament. This is per family not per player so if you have more than one player in the traveling program you will only need to provide 6 hours of your time.
We will only cash the volunteer check if the 6 hours of volunteer time isn't fulfilled. WE DO NOT WANT TO CASH YOUR CHECK! We need help from every traveling family to help run our home tournament so your time is more important to us than your money! Once the volunteer commitment has been met we shred and dispose the $150 volunteer check we collect at the beginning of the season - usually at the first practice.
Warmups, shooting shirts, and spirit wear for the 2018-19 traveling season will be available through an online store and will be communicated on or before the parent meeting on September 24th.
Purchases will need to be made by late September in order to ensure delivery prior to the first tournament in early November.
New this year is a referral program! If you refer someone new to any of our programs (K-1, in-house, or traveling) we'll send you a $25 referral check once the referred player has registered.
We reserve the right to take photos and/or videos of players in our program during practices, games, and tournaments for both online and offline promotional materials. PLAYERS PERSONAL INFORMATION SUCH AS THEIR NAMES ARE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL AND NEVER USED IN THESE PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS.
